Notes about the Atlantic 10 in the Postseason:

The 13 member institutions of the Atlantic 10 all have successful winning traditions on a national stage. Through their history, they have combined for nearly 200 appearances in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Those appearances have resulted in a national champion, multiple national runners up and numerous Final Four and Sweet 16 appearances. Since the 2007-08 season, the Atlantic 10 has sent 52 teams to the postseason, including a six NCAA teams this year. There have been 27 appearances in the NCAA Tournament by A-10 teams in that seven-year timeframe, 20 of which have come via at-large bids. The Atlantic 10 has sent a team to the Sweet 16 in each of the last seven years.

Six NCAA teams, tied for second most in the country, is a record for the A-10. Prior to this season, the record number of NCAA teams the A-10 had sent to the big dance was five, on three occasions, including last year. The Atlantic 10 placed a record nine teams in postseason play last year.

This season, for the seventh year in a row, the A-10 earned at least three bids into the NCAA Tournament, marking the 29th time in the league’s 37-year history that the conference received multiple NCAA bids. The A-10 also received multiple at-large bids for the seventh year in a row and 20th time overall.

Last year, the Atlantic 10 had all five of its teams that qualified for the 2013 NCAA Tournament win their Second Round (Round of 64) game. La Salle won its First Four game to advance to the second round, setting up a record five teams in the Round of 32, breaking the old record, set in 1992-93. The Explorers’ first four win coupled with the five Second Round wins gave the A-10 a 6-0 record to start the tournament, and the A-10 was the only league to advance all of its teams from the Second Round to the Third Round.
