Newport News, Va. – Duquesne’s Clare Hurley has been named the Atlantic 10 Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week, while Richmond’s Taylor Blazer was named Defensive Player of the Week and La Salle’s Toni Massetti earned Rookie of the Week honors for games played between March 24 and March 30.

Hurley helped Duquesne to a pair of wins over the week which pushed the Dukes winning streak to eight games.  A native of Penfield, N.Y., Hurley combined for eight goals in wins over Bucknell and Robert Morris.  Hurley had five goals and grabbed a draw control in a 16-5 win over the Bison.  She closed out the week with three goals, two draw controls and a caused turnover in a 13-5 victory over Robert Morris.

Blazer won eight draws, collected six ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers, both team highs in the team’s split of two games this week. In a heart breaking 8-7 loss to James Madison, she collected four ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers before winning seven draws and scooping up another two ground balls in a home win over Longwood on Sunday.   The Berlin, Md. native leads the defense with 11 caused turnovers, and also is tops on the team with 25 draws controlled and 21 ground balls collected.

A native of Kennett Square, Pa., Massetti recorded  her second career hat trick in three games to lead La Salle to a 10-6 win over California in the Explorers non-conference finale.  She also added career highs with four ground balls, three caused turnovers and two draw controls, while going 2-for-2 in free position attempts.
