Newport News, Va. – Massachusetts’ Sam Rush has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week, while George Washington’s Mackenzie Jones and Michaela Lynch were named Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Rush led UMass to a 9-8 win at Richmond on Saturday in the lone game of the week for both teams. Rush led all players in the game with three goals, including the game-winner, while adding two caused turnovers, a draw control and a groundball. Rush was held scoreless in the first half, but was key in the second.  After Richmond started the second half with a three-goal run to take a 6-3 lead, Rush scored twice as part of a four-goal UMass run to take a 7-6 lead with 23 minutes to go. After the game was tied at 8-8 with 10 minutes to go, Rush was able to get free to score the game-winning goal with 3:27 remaining.
