NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Atlantic 10 Conference members UMass and VCU have been selected to take part in ESPN’s seventh annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon on Tuesday, November 18. UMass will host Manhattan at 11:00 a.m. on ESPN2, while VCU will face Toledo at 6:00 p.m. on ESPNU from the Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond.
The UMass and Manhattan game will be the 11th of 19 during the marathon across the various ESPN family of networks. This will mark the third-consecutive year and fourth overall that UMass has participated in the event. The Minutemen defeated LSU 92-90 in last year’s event at the Mullins Center in the same time slot as this year’s contest.
The game against the Rockets will be VCU’s home opener. Toledo, which posted a school record 27 wins last season, won a share of the MAC regular-season championship. The Rockets earned a bid to the NIT last year and will return four starters.
The contest will be the first of four games in the 2014 Legends Classic. The complete field and bracket for the Legends Classic will be announced on Wednesday.
The Marathon will include nine straight games tipping off every two hours beginning Monday with an ESPN2 tripleheader at 7 p.m., 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., plus two games on ESPNU. ESPN’s schedule of five consecutive games starts at noon on Tuesday and concludes with the State Farm Champions Classic. ESPN2 will also televise a Tuesday primetime doubleheader at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
All telecasts will also be available through WatchESPN, accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 or Xbox One to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
