NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Dayton's Nicole Waters and George Washington's Miranda Horn have earned the first Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer Player and Rookie of the Week honors, the league announced Monday.

A junior midfielder from Terra Cotta, Ontario, Waters had a part in all three of Dayton's goals against No. 9 Texas A&M. Waters scored the first goal of the match, then assisted on Ashley Campbell's score. Waters would add another goal less than a minute later for a career-high five points in the game, as the Flyers fell short, 4-3 to the Aggies. Against Rice, Water's team leading third goal of the season put the Flyers ahead, 2-1, but the Owls tied the game in the 57th minute, forcing a 2-2 double-overtime tie.

Horn, a redshirt freshman, recorded two shutouts in her first two starts between the posts for the Colonials. In GW's 6-0 win over Mount St. Mary's, the Hamilton, Ontario, native recorded three saves on four shots faced in 60 minutes of action. She then made five saves in a 1-0 overtime win against Old Dominion. Over the two games, Horn faced a total of 13 shots. GW opened the season with a 2-0 record for the first time since 2007.
