Men's Basketball Schedule Features Record TV Appearances, Key Matchups

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—The 2014-15 Atlantic 10 men’s basketball conference schedule features a record-setting 96 total television games and a record 75 national games. Every game of the 2015 Men’s Basketball Championship, 71 conference matchups, plus 12 non-conference games will be televised for a total of 83 regular-season TV games. The schedule and the conference television package were announced Wednesday by the A-10.

The second year of the conference’s eight-year media television partnership spotlights 75 games on one of the Atlantic 10’s three national media partners, ESPN, CBS Sports Network and NBCSN. In addition, the A-10 Network will produce a selection of 14 games in conjunction with New York-based SNY and other regional sports outlets. The A-10 will also partner with Campus Insiders for seven games on CI’s digital platform.

CBS Sports, NBCSN and the A-10 Network will combine to carry all 13 Men’s Basketball Championship games, with the championship final airing on CBS Sports for the sixth straight year as part of the network’s Selection Sunday coverage.

“We are proud we’ve been able to once again grow our television offerings and allow our fans throughout the country to watch Atlantic 10 men’s basketball,” stated Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. “Our three national media partners ESPN, CBS Sports and NBCSN, in conjunction with SNY and Campus Insiders give us a diverse media distribution platform on which we can showcase the strength of Atlantic 10 men’s basketball.”

Seven teams will have nine or more national TV games and 73 of the 83 regular season games will feature at least one team that participated in the 2014 postseason. Seven of the league’s 14 current members participated in the postseason last year, with all seven of those reaching 20 wins or better.

Conference play begins the weekend of Jan. 3 with 12 of the 14 teams tipping off the season that Saturday with five nationally televised games. This includes an NBCSN Saturday triple header that features the first Conference game for league newcomer Davidson against Richmond. The next day, Fordham will host VCU on CBS Sports Network to complete the conference openers. Saint Joseph’s and VCU will play a rematch of the 2014 A-10 title game on Jan. 10 at VCU. That game will air on CBS Sports Network. Elite Eight participant Dayton and 2013 champion Saint Louis, the two teams that advanced in the 2014 NCAA Tournament, will play twice, first on Jan. 17 at Dayton on NBCSN as part of a second NBCSN triple header. The return game will at Saint Louis on Feb. 10 and will be aired by CBS Sports Network.

ESPN networks will air 14 A-10 games, including 11 conference contests as part of the league package. That includes two College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon games on Nov. 18 (Manhattan at Massachusetts, 11:00 am and Toledo at VCU, 6:00 pm). The bulk of ESPN games will come late in the season, with seven games slated for February and early March.

CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network will carry 28 total games, including the Men’s Basketball Championship semifinals and final, 21 conference games and four non-conference matchups for a total of 28 games. CBS Sports Network will also produce and distribute ancillary programming focusing on the A-10 basketball programs and student-athletes as the season progresses.

NBCSN is slated to air 33 Atlantic 10 Conference games, including eight A-10 Championship second round and quarterfinal games and 22 conference games as part of the A-10 package. NBCSN will also air three non-conference contests.

In its second year, the A-10 Network will produce 14 total games that will be distributed across New York state, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Northeast Pennsylvania to over 12 million households on SNY as well as the home markets of the participating teams. The schedule includes 12 conference matchups and the two championship first round games on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

Campus Insiders will carry seven games, five of which are conference matchups, along with two non-conference games, exclusively on Campus Insiders will also produce and air supplemental studio programming about Atlantic 10 men’s basketball.

All 14 teams will advance to the 2015 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. There are two first round games Wednesday, March 11, which air on the A-10 Network. Second round games will be played Thursday, March 12. The winners of those four games will advance to the quarterfinal round on Friday, March 13. Both the second round and quarterfinals air on NBCSN. Semifinal games will be played on CBS Sports Network Saturday, March 14 and the finals on NCAA Selection Sunday, March 15, which will air live on CBS Sports.

The three national media partners combine for over 200 million subscribers total subscribers nationwide. Atlantic 10 institutions reside in states that comprise 33.3 million television viewers, 28.8 percent of the total national market. There are eight A-10 institutions in the top 25 media markets in the country.
