LOS ANGELES - An Atlantic 10 produced feature on Saint Louis freshman, Saadiq Mohammed, a Somali refugee, has won "Best Video Feature" in the The National Soccer Coaches Assoication of America (NSCAA) Annual Media Contest.
The feature, produced for the A-10 by Kwolity Productions, chronicles the journey of Mohammed, whose soccer ability gave him the opportunity to leave a war-torn Somalia to become a successful student-athlete at Saint Louis University.
Mohammed, and friend Sa'ad, Somalia's most famous soccer player, are also featured in a documentary called "Men in the Arena," by J.R. Biersmith.
As the game of soccer continues to grow in popularity in the U.S., the NSCAA annually award those who have chronicled soccer’s personalities, problems, games and development.
The NSCAA Annual Media Contest recognizes writers and reporters with work published in a newspaper (daily or weekly), magazine, website, television broadcast, or blog covering soccer. Freelance writers published in newspapers, magazines or as special features can also submit published articles.
