UMass' Hannah Murphy Named to 2017 Tewaaraton Watch List

AMHERST, Mass. – One of the top midfielders in the country, UMass women's lacrosse senior Hannah Murphy (Duxbury, Mass.) has been named to the 2017 Tewaaraton Watch List announced tonight at The Tewaaraton Foundation Reception in New York City.

Murphy is one of 50 female nominees for the sport's highest collegiate honor to be announced tonight. Additions to the watch list will be made as necessary during the season until the list is trimmed to 25 members at the end of April. The five finalists will be announced on May 11 with the winner announced at The Tewaaraton Award Ceremony on June 1 in Washington, D.C., at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian.

This is the latest honor in a list of accolades for the senior. Prior to the start of the year, Murphy was selected as a preseason second-team All-American. She is a two-time Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year as a sophomore and junior. In 2016, she ranked third nationally in draw controls with 152 which set a single-season record for UMass and the Atlantic 10.

For her career, she has recorded 334 draws which is tied for 10th all-time in NCAA history.

In 67 career games, she also has 95 goals, 32 assists, 105 groundballs and 48 caused turnovers.

UMass' most recent members of the Tewaaraton Watch List was attack Erika Eipp last season and attack Katie Ferris who earned a spot in 2013 and 2014.
