UMass Rowing Participates in NCAA Championships C/D Semifinals

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The University of Massachusetts rowing program took part in three semifinal races at the 2017 NCAA Championships on Saturday morning, with the Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ crews competing in their respective C/D semifinals. All three boats move on to Sunday's respective D Final race.
The Varsity 8+ opened the morning with an 8:12 a.m. semifinal against Navy, Northeastern, Syracuse and Washington State. The crew of Haley Eovine (cox), Krysten Menks, Zoe Hill, Grace Bundy, Daniella du Toit, Abigail Diazcadena, Pippa Edwards, Natalie Boisvert and Sam Wonderlin took fifth in a time of 6:35.665.
The Second Varsity 8+ boat – crewed by Kelsey Anderson (cox), Abby Norwood, Hadley Irvin, Hannah White, Meghan Ouellette, Charlotte Bleiler, Kelley Glennon, Caroline Gosnear and Sabrina Seeley raced next in the 9:12 a.m. C/D Semifinal No. 2. The 2V8+ picked up fifth in 6:53.851.
The Varsity 4+ was the final UMass crew on the water at Mercer Lake on Saturday with its 9:48 a.m. C/D Semifinal. Abigail Raichek (cox), Hallie Dunlap, Lauren Jubb, Hannah McCollough and Rebecca Mills reached the finish line in 7:46.231, good for a fifth place spot.
All three boats wrap up spring season and NCAA Championships competition in their respective D Final races on Sunday. The Varsity 4+ rows first at 8:12 a.m., followed by the Second Varsity 8+ at 8:36 a.m. and the Varsity 8+ at 9 a.m.
