United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) and the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) announced today the 61 NCAA Division I players named to the 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer.

University of Dayton senior Alexis Kiehl was one of 30 players selected to the women's MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. She is the only representative from the Atlantic 10 on the list of standout student-athletes.

Kiehl is the third UD women’s soccer player to be named to the list. Colleen Williams (twice) and Kathleen Beljan are the two other Flyers to earn the distinction.

“Alexis has displayed a relentless pursuit of continued development over the course of her career, and has an evident passion and joy while playing the game,” said Dayton Head Coach Eric Golz. “She has been a shining example of a student-athlete, as she has had great success in the classroom, on the field and in the community.  Alexis has a bright future in this game and certainly deserves to be recognized as one of the nation's best.”

Kiehl, a forward from Cincinnati, Ohio, is coming off a phenomenal season. She led the Flyers with 21 goals and six assists for a total of 48 points.

Her 21 goals tied for first in NCAA Division I Women's Soccer in 2016. It's also the fourth-best, single-season effort in UD women's soccer history.

The two-time Atlantic 10 First Team selection was named to the 2016 All-Championship Team. She broke the A-10 tournament record for points (12) and goals scored (5).

She was also a 2016 NSCAA NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-East Region First Team and a 2016 NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region First Team selection.

The 15 semifinalists for the 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy will be determined by All-America voting conducted by NCAA Division I women's soccer coaches with oversight from the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Senior College All-America Committee.

The three finalists will be announced Dec. 8 and the winner will be announced Jan. 5 at the Missouri Athletic Club banquet in St. Louis.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year’s winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
