NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Saint Louis junior Maddie Pokorny has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Also honored was La Salle's Larisa Zambelli and Fordham's Crea Baker-Durante, who earned Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The awards are for the second week of the season, Aug. 21-27.

Pokorny scored a goal in each of the Billikens' two wins last week, helping SLU to its best four-game start in program history. The Webster Groves, Mo., native's goal against Illinois State in the 74th minute gave Saint Louis the 1-0 victory. The junior midfielder then scored early in the second half at Arkansas State to put the Billikens up 2-1 in a game they eventually won 3-2.

Zambelli, a redshirt senior from West Islip, N.Y., led the Explorers to a pair of shutout victories last week. The goalie made six saves against 19 shots faced in 155:30 scoreless minutes in goal, including six saves in a win at Penn on Sunday. The Explorers haven't allowed a goal since the season opener against St. John's.

Baker-Durante netted her second goal of the season on Friday, which turned into the game-winning marker in a 1-0 win over Manhattan in the 25th edition of the Battle of the Bronx. The freshman from Needham, Mass., tallied two shots in the contest, including the game-winner, as the Rams improved to 2-1 on the year.
