NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—Dayton senior Amber Erhahon was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, while VCU junior Tori Baldwin earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. La Salle freshman Samantha Graver was also selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week. All awards were for matches played Sept. 4-10.
Erhahon led the Flyers over a 3-1 week with 3.71 kills per set, a .538 hitting percentage and 1.36 blocks per set. The middle blocker from Albany, Calif., opened the week with an 18-kill, six-dig, four-block outing against Miami (Ohio). On Saturday. Erhahon set a new program single-game record with her .824 hitting percentage on the strength of 14 kills to zero errors in 17 attempts to go with six blocks against Cincinnati Saturday morning. In Saturday's nightcap against Seton Hall, she tied the Redbird Arena single-game record and bested her own school record with an .867 hitting percentage (13-0-15) to go with eight blocks. For her efforts over the weekend, Erhahon was named the MVP of the Redbird Classic.
Baldwin recorded 29.0 blocks and averaged 1.81 blocks per set during a 4-0 week for the Rams. The middle blocker from Liberty, N.C., also had 30 kills, a hit percentage of .466 and 48.0 points for the week.
Graver, recorded four double-doubles out of La Salle's five matches this week. The outside hitter from Allentown, Pa., led La Salle to a 3-2 week, posting wins over Youngstown State, Siena and Penn. She was named to the All-Tournament team of the Valley Forge Sports Invitational, after totaling 69 kills on the week, including a 25-kill performance against Robert Morris. She also added 79 digs over the five matches. The freshman contributed eight aces, including five against Penn and four block assists on the week.
