NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—Fordham sophomore Kaitlin Morley was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, while Dayton junior Margo Wolf and VCU senior Rebekah Strange were named Co-Defensive Players of the Week. Fordham freshman McKenna Lahr was also selected as the league’s Rookie of the Week. All awards were for matches played Sept. 25 – Oct. 1.
Morley averaged 4.43 kills per set and had an attack percentage of .322 to lead the Rams in wins over George Mason and George Washington this past weekend. The outside hitter from Westlake Village, Calif., has recorded four consecutive double-digit kill performances to begin conference play. For the week, she had 31 kills and 19 digs over two matches.
Wolf led the Flyers to wins over Duquesne and La Salle last week, averaging 5.14 digs per set. The libero from Cincinnati, Ohio, recorded 19 digs in a 3-1 win over Duquesne on Friday and followed that with a match-high 17 digs in a straight-set win over La Salle on Sunday. For the weekend, Wolf also averaged 0.86 assists and 0.43 aces per set.
Strange collected 18 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Davidson in VCU’s only match of the week. The libero from Avon, Ind., is averaging 5.22 digs per set in league play.
Lahr averaged 4.29 kills and 3.29 digs per set in wins over Mason and GW. The outside hitter from Lindenhurst, Ill., recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs against George Mason on Friday. She recorded a career-high 19 kills and personal-best five aces against GW on Sunday.
