VICTORIA KAMMERINKE NAMED NFHCA DIVISION I DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
GILBERT, Ariz. – Saint Joseph’s sophomore goalkeeper Victoria Kammerinke was named the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association’s Division I Defensive Player of the Week, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Kammerinke made 19 saves over the course of two games last week and did not concede a goal in the run of play en route to earning Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week Honors. On Friday, she made a career-high 15 saves, including nine in the first half, as the Hawks shut out VCU, 4-0. Kammerinke then added four more on Sunday, conceding only a penalty stroke as the Hawks fell at Richmond, 1-0.
A native of Kaarst, Germany, Kammerinke ranks second in the Atlantic 10 with
Kammerinke and the Hawks are ranked 21st in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll for the third consecutive week. They host UC Davis on Friday before Atlantic 10 leader Saint Francis (Pa.) visits Hawk Hill on Saturday.
