GILBERT, Ariz. – Saint Joseph’s sophomore goalkeeper Victoria Kammerinke was named the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association’s Division I Defensive Player of the Week, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Kammerinke made 19 saves over the course of two games last week and did not concede a goal in the run of play en route to earning Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week Honors.  On Friday, she made a career-high 15 saves, including nine in the first half, as the Hawks shut out VCU, 4-0.  Kammerinke then added four more on Sunday, conceding only a penalty stroke as the Hawks fell at Richmond, 1-0.

A native of Kaarst, Germany, Kammerinke ranks second in the Atlantic 10 with a 1.15 goals against average, while her .825 save percentage puts her atop the league.  She is also tied for the league lead in shutouts with four.

Kammerinke and the Hawks are ranked 21st in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll for the third consecutive week.  They host UC Davis on Friday before Atlantic 10 leader Saint Francis (Pa.) visits Hawk Hill on Saturday.
