NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - La Salle's Madison Bower has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. St. Bonaventure's Lauren Malcolm was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Duquesne's Lauren Bell and Saint Joseph's Morgan Bower shared Co-Rookie of the Week honors. The awards are for games played Oct. 2-8.

Bower, a Millville, Pa., product scored four goals and added two assists as La Salle defeated Davidson, 6-0, and Massachusetts, 6-2. The redshirt-junior forward had two goals and an assist against Davidson and the produced the same stat line against UMass on Sunday, totaling 10 points on the week. Bower leads the A-10 in points (23) and her eight goals on the season are just one shy of the top spot. La Salle improved to 6-0 in league play with its sixth straight win and outscored opponents 12-2 on the week.

Malcolm recorded shutouts in both games last week as SBU battled Fordham to a double-overtime scoreless draw and a 2-0 win against Rhode Island. The sophomore from Moon Township, Pa., made 18 saves last week, and allowed zero goals in 200 minutes. In the scoreless draw against Fordham, Malcolm matched her career-high and season-high for any A-10 goalkeeper this season with 13 saves, then added five saves in the win against Rhode Island. Malcolm leads the A-10 and ranks third in the nation this year in saves (100).

Bell, a Hermitage, Pa., native, snuck behind George Mason's backline in the second half to score the Dukes' third goal of the game. The rookie came off the bench and put both of her two shots on goal, including her fourth goal of the season.

Morgan Bower, a rookie out of Millville, Pa., tallied the game-winning goal in the Hawks' 4-2 win over Dayton last week. Bower is second on the team with five goals for SJU behind Gabrielle Vagnozzi (7). The Hawks snapped a two-game skid with the win.

In other milestones from around the league last week, Duquesne's Katie O'Connor became the program record holder in goals (22) with her strike at Davidson, surpassing Audra Mathews ('07). O'Connor scored a pair of goals in the Dukes' two wins.
