Hawks Draw North Carolina in NCAA Field Hockey Championship

PHILADELPHIA--The Saint Joseph's field hockey team will take on fourth-seeded North Carolina on Saturday morning in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Field Hockey Championship in Charlottesville, Virginia, on the campus of the University of Virginia. Game time is set for 11:30 a.m.

The Hawks claimed their second Atlantic 10 title in program history and first since 1995 with a thrilling 3-2 double-overtime victory over Massachusetts in the Atlantic 10 championship game on Saturday afternoon.

North Carolina punched its ticket to the tournament by earning the ACC’s automatic berth. UNC defeated Louisville, 1-0, in the ACC championship game on Sunday to earn the program’s 20th ACC tournament title.

Saint Joseph's will make its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Field Hockey Championship on Saturday. The winner of the game between the Hawks and Tar Heels will face either Virginia or Princeton for a spot in the Final Four, to be played in Louisville, Kentucky, November 17 and 19.
