Erhahon, Baldwin, Strange Earn AVCA Honors

Newport News, Va. – VCU’s Tori Baldwin and Rebekah Strange were named to the 2017 All-East Region Team and Dayton’s Amber Erhahon was named to the 2017 All-Midwest Region Team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as announced by the association on Monday.

Baldwin, a middle blocker from Liberty, N.C., helped VCU rank first nationally in blocks per set averaging 3.29 per set. Individually she ranked sixth in the nation with 1.53 blocks per set. Baldwin helped lead the Rams to their second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.

Strange, a libero from Avon, Ind., earned A-10 Libero of the year honors after leading the A-10 in digs per set averaging 5.02. During the course of the year, she won A-10 Defensive Player of the Week three times and had four performances in which she recorded 30 or more digs in a match. Strange helped VCU win their first Atlantic 10 Conference Championship and win 27 straight matches.

Erhahon, the 2017 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, finished the 2017 season ranked fourth nationally with a .442 hitting percentage and 54th nationally with 1.22 blocks per set. Her .413 career hitting percentage is a Dayton program record. This is the third-consecutive regional AVCA honor for the Albany, California native. Erhahon is now eligible for the AVCA All-America Accolades.
