NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Davidson senior Peyton Aldridge was selected as the GEICO Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Richmond freshman Grant Golden was named the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, the final of the season, were announced Monday and are for games played Feb. 26 - March 3.

Aldridge finished the week averaging 31.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 45.5 minutes per game, while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor, 58.8 percent (20-for-36) from 3-point range (10-for-17) and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the line. In Davidson's thrilling triple overtime contest at St. Bonaventure, the forward from Leavittsburg, Ohio, scored a career-high 45 points on 14-of-22 shooting, including a personal best eight 3-pointers to go along with 12 rebounds. In addition to his scoring output being the fifth-most in a single-game by a Wildcat, it was the most in a road game by a Davidson player and most by an A-10 Player this season. Aldridge capped his week with his sixth straight double-double to conclude the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds in Davidson's win over No. 16/17 Rhode Island.

Golden tied a career high with 26 points and registered 11 rebounds, a career best, in Richmond's 90-65 win over UMass on Wednesday. Golden then played just 26 minutes Saturday at George Mason, helping Richmond snap a six-game losing streak to the Patriots by scoring 22 points and grabbing eight rebounds. The forward from Winchester, Va., had 13 of his points and seven of his rebounds before halftime as the Spiders built a 13-point lead, their largest at intermission in A-10 play this season.
