NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Davidson senior Peyton Aldridge was selected as the GEICO Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Richmond freshman Grant Golden was named the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards, the final of the season, were announced Monday and are for games played Feb. 26 - March 3.
Aldridge finished the week averaging 31.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 45.5 minutes per game, while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor, 58.8 percent (20-for-36) from 3-point range (10-for-17) and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the line. In Davidson's thrilling
Golden tied a career high with 26 points and registered 11 rebounds, a career best, in Richmond's 90-65 win over UMass on Wednesday. Golden then played just 26 minutes Saturday at George Mason, helping Richmond snap a six-game losing streak to the Patriots by scoring 22 points and grabbing eight rebounds. The forward from Winchester, Va., had 13 of his points and seven of his rebounds before halftime as the Spiders built a 13-point lead, their largest at intermission in A-10 play this season.
