Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham softball team (33-21) won three straight games between Thursday and Saturday to clinch its sixth consecutive Atlantic 10 championship and on Sunday night during the NCAA Softball Division I Selection Show on ESPN2, the Rams discovered their fate for the upcoming NCAA Regionals. Fordham will compete in the Baton Rouge Regional and will play against the hosts, #11 LSU (41-14), on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Houston (36-20) and Louisiana (38-14) round out the quartet of participants.
The winner of Fordham and LSU's game will play on Saturday at 1 p.m., while the losers enter the consolation bracket and play at 3:30 p.m. The regional final will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Fordham is looking to make its first NCAA Super Regional appearance. The Rams came closest in 2010 and 2015, falling in the regional final. In the past eight years, the program has competed in regionals in College Park (2010), Penn State (2011), Norman (2013), Tallahassee (2014), Harrisonburg (2015), Eugene (2016), and last year's trip to Salt Lake City.
Should the Rams advance out of Baton Rouge, they will face the winner of the Florida State Regional, comprised of the Seminoles, Auburn, Jacksonville State, and Kennesaw State.
