NFCA All-America Teams

AMHERST, Mass. Jena Cozza of the University of Massachusetts softball team became the 20th All-American honoree in program history as she was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association Third-Team All-America on Wednesday afternoon. Cozza (Wantagh, N.Y.) is the first to earn all-America honors for the Minutewomen since 2012 and is the first to earn NFCA recognition since 2011.

Cozza joins the NFCA Third-Team All-America squad after earning NFCA First-Team All-Region honors for the second time in her career two weeks ago as she finished her final season at UMass by setting new single season program marks in four offensive categories, including slugging percentage and on-base percentage. The senior finished the regular season ranked in the top-three nationally in batting average, on-base percentage, runs per game and slugging percentage on her way to being named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. The first-team all-conference selection posted 22 multi-hit games and 16 games with multiple RBI performances as she finished her career as the UMass program leader in on-base percentage and hit-by-pitches.

Cozza finished the season with a .482 average at the plate to go along with .978 and .636 marks in slugging-percentage and on-base percentage as she led the Minutewomen in 10 offensive categories. The season saw the third basemen approach numerous single season program records in addition to the four she set, ranking second in batting average, home runs and RBI.

The Minutewomen finished their 2018 campaign with a 35-14 record overall on their way to posting a perfect 21-0 mark in A-10 play to win the regular season title, tying the mark for most conference wins in a single season in league history as they racked up the most wins for the program since 2012.
