Dallas Selects Antetokounmpo In The 2018 NBA Draft

BROOKLYN - University of Dayton forward Kostas Antetokounmpo was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the in the second round, the 60th pick overall, of the 2018 National Basketball Association (NBA) draft.

The 6-foot-10, 197 pound Antetokounmpo was an early-entry candidate to this year's draft after spending one season at Dayton where he averaged 5.2 points and 2.9 rebounds for the Flyers. 

The Mavericks acquired the draft rights to 56th overall pick Ray Spalding and 60th overall Antetokounmpo from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for the draft rights to 54th overall pick Shake Milton.

Antetokounmpo seeks to become the third member of his family to play in the NBA. His brother Giannis Antetokounmpo, 23, was the 15th pick of the first round in 2013 and now is one of the top players in the league. He averaged 26.9 points per game last season for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo, 25, played in two games in 2016 for the New York Knicks. He was a second-round pick in 2014.

Antetokounmpo is the seventh A-10 player drafted this decade, and the third in the last four years. Dayton has had 39 players selected in the NBA Draft since 1952.
