NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – La Salle junior Emma Provost and VCU senior Emily McNamara were named Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Field Hockey Players of the Week, while Massachusetts freshman Antonet Louw was chosen as the A-10 Rookie of the Week. Both awards are for games played from Aug. 24-26 and are the first honors of the 2018 regular season.

Provost, a goalkeeper, recorded 15 saves, including 10 in the first half, as she helped La Salle to a 2-0 shutout win over Ohio in the season opener. The Middletown, Md., native made a number of point-blank saves, including a penalty shot at the 58:41 mark of the second half that held the Bobcats off the board. Provost tied for the game high in saves in the Atlantic 10 on opening weekend with Richmond's Emily Braunewell.

McNamara scored both VCU goals on Friday against Hofstra in a shootout loss, and added a goal in a 2-1 win over Bryant at the River Hawk Classic. The forward from Centreville, Va., recorded 11 shots on Friday with eight shots on goal. On Sunday she had four shots with two shots on goal.

Louw scored all four Massachusetts goals this weekend as the Minutewomen split at New Hampshire's Wildcat Classic. She made her UMass debut with a bang, scoring twice in as many minutes against the host Wildcats. The forward from Bloemfontein, South Africa, then recorded a pair of tallies in a win over Northeastern. She is the first Minutewoman to score two goals in her first two career games since 2002.
