NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Lock Haven senior Alyscia Smith and Saint Francis senior Hannah Retherford were named Atlantic 10 Conference Field Hockey Co-Players of the Week, while Saint Joseph’s freshman Tonya Botherway was selected as the A-10 Rookie of the Week. The awards are for games played from Sept. 3 - 9.

Smith, a Newport, Pa., product, led Lock Haven to a 6-1 win on Sunday versus Colgate. The midfielder recorded a natural hat trick, scoring the first three goals of the game on the way to a lopsided 6-1 win that helped the Bald Eagles remain perfect at home this season (3-0).

Retherford, a midfielder, scored the game tying goal with no time left on the clock in regulation against Central Michigan, setting up an overtime win. The Benton, Pa., native also scored the first goal of the game for the Red Flash against the Indiana Hoosiers, giving her a pair of goals for the week.

Botherway tallied a goal on either side of halftime as the Hawks rolled past Penn, 4-0, in their only game of the weekend. The forward gave the Hawks some breathing room with her fourth goal of the season with 12 minutes to go in the first half, while her second of the day helped seal the contest less than four minutes into the second half.
