Michon, Petrov, Clark, Oremus, Hurley Earn A-10 Cross Country Weekly Honors
NEWPORT NEWS, Va.— Saint Joseph’s’ Zach Michon was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Massachusetts’ Caroline Clarkand Lindsey Oremus of Saint Joseph’swere named the Women’s Co-Performersof the Week. Massachusetts’ Kalin Petrov and Alexina Hurley were also named the Men’s & Women’s Rookies of the Week, respectively. The awards were based off performances from meets held Sept. 3-9.
Michon, a junior from Robbinsville, N.J., led the Hawks with an eighth-place individual finish in a field of 92 runners. His time of 26:20 (8.4K), helped lead the Hawks to a third-place team finish at the competitive Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational.
Clark, a sophomore from Worcester, Mass., placed third overall at the Minuteman Invitational with a time of 18:25.28 (5K). Her individual time was 15 seconds faster than at last year’s event.
Oremus, a senior from Wyoming, Pa., led the Hawks with a 30thplace finish with a time of 22:17 (6K). She helped lead the Hawks to a sixth-place team finish, edging out several regionally ranked opponents at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational.
Petrov, a freshman from Mansfield, Mass., finished eighth overall at the Minuteman Invitational with a time of 19:44.27 (6K).
Hurley, a freshman from Woburn, Mass., finished eighth overall in her collegiate debut in a field of 47 runners at the Minuteman Invitational with a time of 18:34.97 (5K).
