DUQUESNE WOMEN CLAIM TOP SPOT IN A-10 SWIMMING AND DIVING PRESEASON POLL

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Duquesne women’s swimming and diving team have been predicted to take home the 2019 Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship, according to a poll conducted of the league’s 11 head coaches.  The league announced the poll Thursday.

 

Duquesne received eight first-place votes and a total of 117 points after claiming its first ever A-10 Women’s Swimming and Diving title at last year’s championship. Returning for Duquesne is the 2018 A-10 Rookie of the Year, Emma Brinton and 2018 A-10 Coach of the Year, Dave Sheets.

 

Richmond, last year’s runner-up, was predicted to finish second in this year’s poll with one first-place vote and 106 points. Fordham, with 97 points and two first-place votes, was selected third. George Washington (96) and Massachusetts (70) were selected fourth and fifth, respectively, followed by St. Bonaventure, George Mason, Davidson La Salle, Saint Louis, and Rhode Island.

 

The 2019 A-10 Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships will be held February 20-23 at the SPIRE Institute located in Geneva, Ohio.
