FAIRFAX, Va.—Pablo Pertusa was the hero for third-seeded George Mason Sunday. The defensive midfielder scored a double-overtime golden goal to push the Patriots to a 1-0 win over No. 6 Saint Louis in the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer Championship quarterfinals at George Mason Soccer Stadium.

Mason (7-7-0) advances to face No. 7 Dayton in Friday’s semifinals at 3:30 pm CT at Saint Louis’ Hermann Stadium.

Pertusa’s game-winner came on a header following a corner kick by Colin Brezniak in the 108th minute, 18 minutes past regulation time. It was the Patriots’ only shot on goal for the game, and one of just five total shots for Mason.

Saint Louis (6-3-7) had 14 total shots, three of which, all by Leo Novaes, were on goal. The Billikens had 10 corners to Mason’s two.

The Patriots’ Clark Gronek made three saves while SLU’s defense kept keeper Seth Stiebel from having to make a save for all of regulation.
