Saint Louis Advances to A-10 Semifinals With a 3-0 Win Against George Mason

RICHMOND, Va. —Fifth-seeded Saint Louis defeated No. 4 George Mason, 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-22) in the Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Championship quarterfinals Friday afternoon at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.

 

The Billikens (8-19) advance to the semifinals, where they will face top-seeded VCU on Saturday at 2:00 pm ET.  Saturday’s semifinals will be available on ESPN+.

 

Saint Louis’ Maya Taylor led the way with 16 kills for the Billikens and Kennedy Cordia recorded 39 assists.  Saint Louis is the third consecutive No. 5 seed to win in the A-10 Volleyball Championship quarterfinals.

 

Trailing 24-22 in the first set, Taylor responded with back-to-back kills followed by an ace to grab the lead before a George Mason attack error finished the first set. The Billikens went on to win both the second and third sets to close out the victory.

 

George Mason freshman ShaLi Niu had 15 kills and hit. 281 for the match. Emily Konchan had 35 assists to lead the way for the Patriots. With the loss, George Mason finishes its season with a record of 10-15 overall.
