Dayton Defeats La Salle to Secure a Spot in the A-10 Championship Final
RICHMOND, Va. —Second-seeded Dayton defeated third-seeded La Salle in four sets (25-20, 25-20, 24-26, 25-22) in the Atlantic 10 Volleyball semifinals Saturday afternoon at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
The Flyers (22-7) will advance to face top-seeded VCU in Sunday’s championship final at 12:00 pm ET and compete for the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Flyers will face the Rams in a rematch of last year’s thrilling five-set championship match.
Dayton was led by senior Kendyll Brown who recorded 16 kills and hit .481 for the match. Also recording double-digit kills was A-10 Player of the Year, Lauren Bruns who had 16 kills and Rookie of the Year, Alli Papesh who had 11 kills.
La Salle’s Katie Wood led the Explorers with 52 assists. Three players recorded double-digit kills led by Devin Corah, who had 17 kills. With the loss, La Salle falls to 18-12 on the season.
