Alcaide played a huge role in the Rams' victory over West Virginia this weekend. In singles play, the Gurb, Spain native defeated her opponent in two sets, 6-4, 6-3. with a total score of 12-7. In doubles play, she and her doubles partner Sofia Sualehe defeated their opponents by a score of 6-3.
Aclaide is undefeated in singles play throughout the season with nine wins. In all of her wins this season, she has not allowed a single match to go to three sets, as she has defeated all of her opponents in two sets, outscoring her opponents 110-43.
Benjamin was a perfect 3-0 for the weekend, all at the top spot in the lineup, as the Flyers defeated Saint Louis and Saint Joseph's. The senior from Fairport, N.Y., opened the weekend with a 6-3 No. 1 doubles win against Saint Louis along with partner Spencer Richey, before dispatching the top Billikens singles player in straight sets by a score of 6-3, 6-0. Against Saint Joseph's, he defeated Nathan Perrone by a score of 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 to cap off his perfect weekend for his fifth straight win at No. 1 singles.
Mobius played a key role in the Rams 2-0 record over the weekend, guiding VCU to 4-3 victories over both Liberty and Elon. The Malmo, Sweden, product went a perfect 4-0 in singles play and doubles play. Against both Liberty and Elon, he won his singles match in two sets, outscoring his opponents 12-7 in each match. In doubles play, he and his doubles partner, Inaki Rivero Crespo, took down their opponents by a score of 6-4 in each match.
DeMarco won all three of his matches on the weekend for a perfect combined 3-0 record in doubles and singles play and was just one point away from earning another victory against Saint Joseph's before the Flyers clinched the team win. In singles play, DeMarco defeated Ignacio Tintore of Saint Louis by a score of 6-3, 6-4 No. 5 spot in the lineup. DeMarco led Luis Janko of Saint Joseph's, 6-1, 5-2, when the match was called, 4-0.
