NEWPORT NEWS, Va - George Washington's Maria Siopacha has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, while Duquesne's Margot Pessy earned Rookie of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday. On the men's side, Dukes' teammates Alex Mascioli and Graham Conron were named Men's Tennis Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The awards are for matches played March 25 - 31.

Siopacha went 4-0 to help the Colonials defeat Massachusetts 4-3, and Rhode Island, 4-0 to improve to 4-1 in A-10 play last week. The Limassol, Cyprus, product, won both her singles matches at the top spot, defeating UMass' Janja Kovacevic (7-6, 6-3) and Rhody's Erin Chratian (7-6, 6-4). The senior paired with Melis Bayraktaroglu for a pair of No. 1 doubles victories against Janja Kovacevic / Martina Bocchi (UM), 7-5 and Rhode Island Mihaela Cordreanu / Erin Chratian (URI), 6-4.

Pessy, a freshman from Normandy, France, won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and 6-3 at No. 2 doubles to help Duquesne collect a 6-1 victory at St. Bonaventure. This is the second consecutive award for Pessy.

Mascioli went 2-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles action during the week, helping Duquesne pick up a pair of wins over Farleigh Dickinson and on the road at St. Bonaventure. Against the Knights, the sophomore from Wayne, Pa., clinched the win for the Dukes at No. 2 singles with a comeback three-set victory. He added a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, as well. On Saturday against the Bonnies, he won 6-3 at top doubles and at No. 3 singles. He improved to 11-7 in singles play and 10-6 in doubles on the season.
Conron earned a pair of wins at No. 6 singles to help the Dukes to a 2-0 record on the week. The Bradenton, Fla., product, picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win in a closely-contested 4-3 victory over the Knights before collecting a 7-5, 6-4 victory over the Bonnies on Saturday.
