Rhody's Varsity 8 Named A-10 Boat of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Rhode Island’s Varsity 8 boat earned the Atlantic 10 Conference Boat of the Week honor the league announced Wednesday.  The award, created last year, is selected by the conference office to recognize an outstanding performance in the weeks leading up to the A-10 Championship, which takes place on Saturday, May 18 at the Cooper River.

Rhode Island's top boat led the Rams to the team title at the two-day George Washington Invitational, beating Saint Joseph's, George Washington and Duquesne in head-to-head racing over the weekend. Rhody beat Saint Joseph's by more than 30 seconds on Friday (6:23.59 to 6:54.21) on Friday. On Saturday, the Rams beat GW by nearly 10 seconds (6:26.76 to 6:36.50) and then beat Duquesne by more than 26 seconds (6:20.98 to 6:47.60)
