Saint Joseph's edges out No. 1 Fordham in game 4 of the #A10SB Championship

AMHERST, Mass. -- The Saint Joseph’s Hawks won their second game of the week at  3-1 over top-seeded Fordham in the 2019 Atlantic 10 Softball championship to advance to the third round.

With the win, Saint Joseph’s will advance to play the winner of Thursday’s second game in game seven at 11:00 am on Friday.

Fordham got on the board early, as centerfielder Chelsea Skrepenak was batted in by Molly Roark in the bottom of the first. Saint Josephs couldn’t round the bases until inning four when Jancarla Herrera singled in Molly Kapala. The game remained tied until the top of the seventh when Amanda Kulp was run in with a single from Kapala and Sarah Ostaszewski came in on a sacrifice fly from Caela Abadie.

Kapala led the Hawks with a run and an RBI going 1-for-3 at the plate. Pitcher Ashley Ventura held the Rams to three hits.

With the loss, Fordham advances to play in the consolation bracket Friday at 1:30 pm.
