UMass Rallies to Stay in #A10SB Championship

AMHERST, Mass. – The second-seeded Massachusetts Minutewomen came back from a 4-0 deficit in the bottom of the fourth to beat No. 6 Saint Louis, 7-5, and advance in consolation bracket of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Softball Championship.

With the win, the Minutewomen will face top-seeded Fordham in the elimination bracket at 1:30 pm on Friday.

It looked like the Billikens had control of the game with a 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the fourth, but UMass scored six runs in the inning to gain the lead by two. One more in the fifth insured the win for the Minutewomen.

Kaitlyn Stavinoha led Massachusetts with one run and two RBI, and six other Minutewomen scored in the win.

Lauren Lomax led the Billikens with two runs while Rookie of the Year Gabbie Kowalik batted in two runners.

With the loss, SLU falls to 19-31 overall on the season.
