Eight #A10SB Players Earn NFCA DI All-Region Accolades
Newport News, Va. – A total of eight softball student-athletes from four programs received 2019 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, announced Thursday.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the team, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2018 NFCA Division I All-American squads.
George Washington’s Sierra Lange was the only Atlantic 10 player named to the Mid-Atlantic Region First Team, while her teammates Jessica Linquist (catcher) and Jenna Cone (3B) along with Fordham’s Jordy Storm (2B) were named to the Second Team. Dayton’s Abby Ehrenborg (Catcher), Fordham’s Madie Aughinbaugh (Utility/Pitcher), George Mason’s Rebekah Ansbro (Pitcher), and GW’s Alessandra Ponce (DP) were named to the Third Team.
Lange led the A-10 in wins and strikeouts in the circle this season, while also having the highest batting average in the league. The sophomore from Plano, Texas, led the Colonials to their first A-10 Championship title and first post-season berth.
