Richmond Women Predicted to finish first at 2019 #A10WXC Championship
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Richmond Spiders Women’s Cross Country team has been predicted as the top finishing team for the 2019 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship in a poll conducted by the league’s 14 head coaches announced Friday.
The Spiders, with 173 points in the poll, are looking for their second consecutive title, after winning the 2018 conference championship. Dayton was second in the poll with 159 points after a runner-up finish last season.
La Salle was selected to finish third in the preseason poll with a total of 149 points and is followed by George Mason (133) and Fordham (116) to round out the top five.
Duquesne was voted sixth in the poll with 106 points followed by Saint Louis in seventh with 98 points. Davidson recorded 94 points for eighth place and George Washington (90) along with Saint Joseph’s (72), were ninth and tenth, respectively. Rhode Island, Massachusetts, VCU and St. Bonaventure rounded out the poll.
The 2019 Atlantic 10 Women’s Cross Country Championship will be hosted by George Mason University at Oatland’s Plantation in Leesburg, Va. on November 2. The Cross Country regular season begins on August 30.
