Schmidt, Francoeur Earn Season's First Golfer of the Week Award

Schmidt put on a show in his debut performance, winning the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, his first collegiate tournament. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native started off hot by shooting a 65 (-6) on Monday in the First Round, followed by a 69 and 68 in rounds two and three. Francoeur claimed the individual title at Colgate's Alex Lagowitz Memorial, blowing away the rest of the field with a seven-under finish. His three-round score of 209 (71-70-68) was six strokes better than the two second-place finishers. Francoeur, and Amesbury, Mass., native was the only player among the field of 96 to finish with red scores in all three rounds. His third-round 68 was the only sub-70 round of the day on Sunday, as he birdied five holes and bogeyed just one. Through 54 holes, Francoeur led the field in par-4 scoring (-4) and birdies (12). He was second overall in par-5 scoring, at -7.
