Two A-10 Teams in Blue Ribbon Preseason Top 25, Davidson Picked to Win League

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook has two Atlantic 10 Conference teams, Davidson and VCU, listed in its Men’s Basketball Preseason Top 25 which it released on Wednesday.

The Wildcats checked in at No. 17 in the poll, and were also Blue Ribbon’s pick to win the A-10 in 2019-20. VCU placed 25th in the poll and was picked second in their predictions.

VCU has appeared in multiple Preseason Top 25s this season, including NBC Sports and Jeff Goodman’s Stadium rankings. CBSSports.com placed both teams in Gary Parrish’s Preseason Top 25 and 1 (VCU at 18, Davidson at 23).

The remainder of the Blue Ribbon Poll had Rhode Island at No. 4 and George Mason at No. 5. St. Bonaventure (6), Duquesne (7), Saint Louis (8), Richmond (9) and George Washington (10). Rounded out the top 10.

Blue Ribbon also predicted the Atlantic 10 All-Conference team. Davidson’s Jon Axel Gudmundsson and Kellan Grady, Dayton’s Obi Toppin, Rhode Island’s Cyril Langevine and VCU’s Marcus Evans made the team.  Gudmundsson was picked to repeat as the league’s Player of the Year and Saint Joseph’s Ryan Daly was tabbed as the Newcomer of the Year.
