Peterson, Sneed, and Kelly Win #A10VB Weekly Awards
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Dayton sophomore Jamie Peterson and VCU senior Jasmin Sneed were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, while Duquesne freshman Morgan Kelly was awarded Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday. The awards are for matches played Sept. 30 – Oct. 6.
Peterson posted back-to-back double-doubles in two wins for the Flyers over the weekend, averaging 5.71 kills per set and 4.00 digs per set. In Friday's win over Rhode Island, the outside hitter from West Liberty, Ohio, recorded 26 kills and 16 digs followed by 14 kills and 12 digs to go with three blocks and three aces in a sweep of Fordham Sunday. Peterson scored 6.46 points per set on the week.
Sneed, a middle blocker from San Antonio, Texas, took home her third weekly conference award of the season after averaging 2.33 blocks per set in a win over Davidson Friday. She also hit .400 and averaged 3.00 kills per set.
Kelly led Duquesne with 23 kills this week, good for over three kills per set. The outside hitter from Florence, Ky., posted a .647 hitting percentage in a win over George Mason. She also had 15 digs and three blocks in the 1-1 week for the Dukes.
