OVERLAND PARK, Kan.  –  University of Dayton women's soccer player Alexis Kiehl was named a Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American on Thursday.

Kiehl was named the 2017 Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, in addition to being named to the A-10 First Team for the third consecutive season. She was also recently named a United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Third Team selection.

She has twice been named to the A-10 All-Championship Team. She scored 45 goals in her career (tied for fourth all-time at UD), including an A-10 best 12 this season; and she led the nation in scoring last season.

Kiehl, from Cincinnati, is just the ninth Flyer to amass more than 20 goals and 20 assists in her career (45 goals, 21 assists).

The award, chosen by a vote of Division I women's soccer coaches, national soccer media and fans, is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I women's soccer. In order to be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: classroom, community, character, and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award was inspired by Duke men's basketball player Shane Battier and his decision to forego the NBA to remain in school all four years. Established in 2001, the award is presented in 10 NCAA sports and focuses on the total student-athlete, encouraging students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
