NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Through two days of competition at the NCAA Preliminaries, five A-10 student-athletes have qualified to advance to Eugene, Ore. for the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 5-8.
VCU’s Kiara Porter became the most recent A-10 student athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championships after posting a time of :52.33 in the 400-meters tying her for 4th place in the event. Porter follows her teammate Jaleesa Williams, who earned a spot at the national meet in the discus yesterday. It is just the second time in school history that VCU has sent two females to the NCAA National Championships.
The East Preliminary in Greensboro, N.C., and the West Preliminary in Austin, Texas, will resume at 10:00 a.m. local time.
