USA Track & Field Championships Day Two

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – On Day Two of the USA Track & Field Championships, on the campus of Drake University, several A-10 Student-Athletes were in action competing for spots to Represent Team USA at the IAAF World Championships (August 10-18) and the Pan American Games (August 23-25).
Competing on Day Two from the Atlantic 10 was VCU’s Kiara Porter (400 meter semifinals), Charlotte’s Morgan Richards (1,500 meters and Steeplechase), Richmond’s Mary Allen and Jade Gregory (400 meters), along with Dannah Hayward of Saint Joseph’s (400 meter hurdles).

DES MOINES, Iowa – Sophomore Kiara Porter concluded her spectacular 2013 season with a 52.54 second run, placing 14th, in the 400-meter dash at the USA Track and Field Championships on Friday night.
Competing against the best in the country, Porter qualified for the semifinals with a time of 52.44 seconds in Thursday's opening round.
The Yorktown, Va. native earned Honorable Mention All-America honors, as she qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 400-meter earlier this month. Porter was the Atlantic 10's Most Outstanding Performer after taking home gold in the 200-meter, 400-meter, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay in May.
Porter became the first-ever VCU Track and Field athlete to compete in the USA Track and Field Championship when she ran a school record 52.33 seconds in the 400-meter at the NCAA East Regionals.
Hayward\ Takes\ 23rd\ Place\ at\ USA\ Junior\ Outdoor\ Track\ Championships
DES MOINES, Iowa - Freshman Dannah Hayward hurdled her way to a 23rd-place finish in the 400H at the 2013 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
Hayward, who holds SJU's record in the event (1:00.11), clocked in with a time of 1:03.59.
In her rookie season, Hayward broke and reset her own school record in the 400H multiple times and met the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships qualifying standard of 62.00 on seven different occasions.
