Goutos, McGlinchey, Maxwell and Baritot Earn First A-10 Indoor Track Weekly Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – La Salle’s Demitri Goutos and Meghan McGlinchey were named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Performers of the Week for meets held Dec. 2-8, the league announced Monday. Also honored was Chad Maxwell of Saint Louis, who was named Men’s Rookie of the Week, and Megan Baritot of Duquesne, who was named Women’s Rookie of the Week.

Goutos, a graduate student from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., posted an IC4A qualifying time of 8:28.11 in the 3,000 meters at this past weekend’s Jack Pyrah Invitational. His time in the 3,000 meters was good for a second-place overall finish in the event.

McGlinchey, a senior from West Depford, N.J., broke a 27-year old school record by nearly 28 seconds en route to becoming the first Explorer woman to run the 5,000 meters in under 16:00. She recorded a first-place finish in the event at the Jack Pyrah Invitational with a time of 15:53.74. McGlinchey’s time currently ranks fourth in the nation in the 5k.

Maxwell, a freshman from Edwardsville, Ill., captured gold in the mile at the Saluki Fast Start held on the campus of Southern Illinois University. He led the way as for Billikens finished in the top five in the mile.

Baritot, a freshman from East Aurora, Pa., opened the Indoor Track & Field season on a high note for the Dukes as she recorded a first-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:26.78.
