CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Second-seeded Saint Louis (14-4) tallied a pair of late goals to defeat #7 La Salle, 3-1, in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Atlantic 10 Men’s Soccer Championship, Thursday afternoon at Charlotte’s Transamerica Field.

With the win, Saint Louis advances to Friday’s first semifinal game against the winner of the #3 Xavier/#6 Dayton contest, while La Salle concludes its tournament title hopes with a 10-7-3 overall record.

The nationally-ranked Billikens took the early advantage, as First Team All-Conference selection Robbie Kristo registered the game’s first tally at the 23:00-minute mark on a short header from teammate Jon Roeckle.

La Salle, however, knotted the game in the 79th minute, as Jason Plumhoff scored from eight yards out off a pass from Tom Kalpokas.

Saint Louis quickly retaliated with back-to-back goals in the 86th-and-90th minutes to secure the victory and its place in the Championship semifinals. Kingsley Bryce scored the game winner off the double-assist from Alex Sweetin and David Graydon, before Sweetin notched the insurance goal from Kristo.

Saint Louis held the advantage on shots, 17-8, and corners, 9-3.
