CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore Kingsley Bryce tallied his second golden goal of the 2012 A-10 Tournament to propel #2 Saint Louis to a 1-0 victory over two-time defending championship #3 Xavier, Friday night at Charlotte’s Transamerica Field.
With the win, SLU advances to the program’s fourth A-10 Championship finale on Sunday, Nov. 11. The Billikens will face the winner of tonight’s second semifinal contest between #1 Charlotte and #4 VCU. The two teams will square off at 4:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
Xavier’s Championship run concludes with a 13-2-5 overall record and the Musketeers will await the NCAA’s announcement of the 48-team field Tournament on Monday at 5:30 p.m. ET via its website -- NCAA.com.
The two teams remained scoreless throughout the majority of the outing, until Bryce headed in a loose ball inside the six-yard box in the 82nd minute.
Saint Louis last appeared in the A-10 Championship in 2009 and took home the program’s lone title. The Billikens also advanced to the finals in 2005 and 2006, but ultimately fell to Rhode Island in both outings.
