Richmond Sweeps Weekly Field Hockey Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Richmond field hockey standouts, Rebecca Barry and Kerri McDonald, swept the conference honors this week. Barry was named Atlantic 10 Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week, while McDonald earned Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the league Tuesday for games played Aug. 27- Sept. 2.

Sophomore midfielder Barry earned Player of the Week honors after scoring two goals against Columbia, leading her team to a 4-3 victory in overtime. The Limerick, Ireland native also scored one goal and tallied two assists in an 8-1 victory over Georgetown, giving her a team-high 10 points on the season.

Freshman midfielder McDonald earned Rookie of the Week honors. The Dromore, Northern Ireland native scored her second career goal, helping her team to victory against Georgetown.
