NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Josh Koppel of Massachusetts and Chaya Zabludoff of Rhode Island were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Wednesday. Also honored was St. Bonaventure freshman Matt Goettler, who earned Men’s Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, and Richmond’s Irina Chiulli, who was named Women’s Rookie of the Week. Awards were based off performances from Nov. 4 – Nov. 10.

Koppel, a sophomore from Latham, N.Y., won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions in last weekend’s dual meet against Brown. His 296.80 in the 1-meter is the top score in the A-10 this season, bettering his own score of 285.30 in the season-opener at home against Boston University in early October. He is undefeated on the 1- and 3-meter springboards this season, winning gold in all eight competitions over four meets.

Zabludoff, a junior from Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., earned first-place finishes in both the 100-yd and 200-yd freestyle in a 170-122 loss to New Hampshire over the weekend. Her recorded times in each event were 52.62 (100-yd free) and 1:51.84 (200-yd free).

Goettler recorded second-place finishes in both the 200-yd breaststroke (2:10.62) and as a part of the 400-yd medley relay (3:25.90) this past weekend as the Bonnies fell to Cleveland State, 184-116. The Butler, Pa., native has been named the A-10 Rookie of the Week for consecutive weeks.

Chiulli, a freshman from Westwood, Mass., led the way for the Spider diving squad this past weekend as she collected two first-place finishes as Richmond downed Liberty, 153-138. She recorded first-place finishes in both 1-meter (283.20) and 3-meter (310.5) along with setting a new school record in the 3-meter as well as qualifying for her first NCAA Zone Meet.
