NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – La Salle’s Megan Hodgson and Saint Louis’ Lindsay Friedman have been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Softball Co-Players of the Week, while Fordham’s Michele Daubman has been named the Pitcher of the Week for games played Mar. 3–9.  George Washington’s Mary Wiley was also honored as the A-10 Rookie of the Week.

Hodgson, a senior from Spring City, Pa., fueled the Explorer offense over the past week and at the Rebel Spring Games as she batted 11-for-22 (.500) at the plate with four home runs and 11 RBI.  Hodgson finished the week with seven runs scored and seven extra base-hits.

Friedman, a junior from Pontiac, Ill., was selected to the All-Tournament team at the Tennessee State Tiger Invitational. In five tournament games, she hit .533 (8-for-15) with seven RBIs, eight runs, two home runs, one double, one triple and five walks. Friedman also posted a 1.133 slugging percentage, a .650 on-base percentage and recorded five stolen bases in five attempts while striking out just once in 20 plate appearances.

Daubman, a junior from North Massapequa, N.Y., posted a record 2-0 while allowing only four earned runs on 10 base hits over 18.2 innings pitched this past week. She won the opening game of the weekend against Providence by tossing a complete game two-hitter. Daubman followed that performance with a three-hit shutout against Western Michigan. This marks the third time this season that Daubman has been honored as A-10 Pitcher of the Week.

Wiley, a freshman from Harrington Park, N.J., hit .500 (8-for-16) with two doubles and four RBIs to lead GW to a 3-1-1 record at the Colonials Tournament. After going 1-for-3 with a double and scoring the Colonials’ lone run in the tournament opener, Wiley combined to go 4-for-6 with three RBIs in GW’s two wins on Saturday against Binghamton and Howard, and she stole the first base of her career against the Bearcats. Wiley then posted the second three-hit game of her young career on Sunday against Wagner, going 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. She is currently batting a team-high .348 on the season and also leads the Colonials with a .444 on-base percentage.
