NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Temple’s Sarah Prezioso and Taryn Ashway of Saint Joseph’s have been named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, while Temple’s Kelsey Dominik has been named Rookie of the Week.

Prezioso batted .560 (14-for-25) with five home runs, 10 RBI, 11 runs scored and seven stolen bases to lead the Owls to a record of 5-2 for the week. The junior from Bloomfield, N.J., recorded at least one stolen base in six of the seven games last week and recorded multi-hit performances in five consecutive games. Against A-10 opponents for the week, Prezioso batted .688 (11-for-16) with five home runs, two doubles and nine RBI.

Ashway, a senior from Waynesboro, Pa., set the Saint Joseph’s single-season record for wins over the weekend as she went 2-1 with a save in four games. Pitching 25 innings, Ashway posted a 1.12 ERA with 13 strikeouts. She began the week with a tough loss against Massachusetts, 2-1, in which she went the distance for the Hawks while allowing only four hits and one earned run. The Minutewomen rallied to score the decisive two runs in the seventh following a lead-off error. Ashway responded with a complete game victory against Massachusetts on Saturday followed by a 10-inning complete game shutout of Rhode Island on Sunday. Ashway also recorded a save in game two against Rhode Island.

Dominik had an impact both at the plate and on the mound for the Owls as she posted a record of 3-2, 3-0 against A-10 opponents, over 24.2 innings pitched. The freshman from Woolwich Township, N.J., also batted .333 (7-for-21) with six home runs, nine RBI and six runs scored. Against Massachusetts on Sunday, Dominik picked up both victories for the Owls and went four-for-six at the plate with four home runs and six RBI.
