AMHERST, Mass. - Jessica Van Nostrand drove in three runs and scored twice as No. 5 seed Saint Louis defeated No. 4 seed George Washington, 8-3, in an elimination game at the 2013 Atlantic 10 Softball Championship at Sortino Field Thursday.
Saint Louis (28-22) advances in the loser's bracket where it will face Temple on Friday at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time. GW (27-23) is eliminated from the championship as it suffered its second loss of the day.
Van Nostrand was one of four Billikens who collected two hits each. Four of SLU's 12 hits were doubles. Kelsey Biggs had two in the contest with a run-scoring two-bagger in the top of the first.
In the fourth, SLU extended its lead to four runs as Laura Bohning and Biggs scored on a Van Nostrand double to left. Two batters later, Van Nostrand scored on a fielder's choice as she slid into home just ahead of the throw on a ball back to Meghan Rico in the circle.

The Colonials mounted their biggest rally in the bottom of the fifth when they scored three runs on three hits to cut the deficit to 5-3.
But the Billikens put the game out of reach in the seventh with their second 3-run inning of the game. All three runs came with two outs.
