NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Louis’ Brianna Lore and Fordham’s Lauren Quense have been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for games played Feb. 24 – Mar. 2.  Madeline Brunck of Saint Joseph’s was also honored as the A-10 Rookie of the Week.

Lore, a sophomore from Sullivan, Mo., led the Billikens  to a championship at this past weekend’s All-Missouri Cancer Classic with wins over Missouri State and SE Missouri. Lore recorded two multi-hit games while batting .571 with six RBI and a run scored. She was also a factor in the circle as she posted a record of 1-0 with a save over seven innings pitched while allowing one run on four hits.

Quense, a freshman from Langhorne, Pa., surrendered only two runs and six hits over 13.2 innings of work this weekend posting a record of 1-1 with an ERA of 1.02. Quense pitched six innings of three-hit ball against Ohio State on Friday, allowing only one run in a 1-0 defeat for the Rams. After holding #1 Florida scoreless for two-thirds of an inning on Saturday, she tossed a complete game against Syracuse in which she allowed only three base hits and one earned run over seven innings, striking out of seven as the Rams picked up the victory, 2-1.

Brunck, a freshman from Cream Ridge, N.J., went four-for-10 (.400) at the plate with two RBI and a run scored this past weekend for the Hawks. Against Hartford, Brunck went three-for-four with a walk, an RBI and a run scored.
